Sherrin talks with Greg Carey “If a teacher receives a bonus for doing a good job, then for what are they receiving their salary?”

Sherrin says that it is important to recognise excellence in teaching and thinks that instead of a one-off bonus of $8000.00+, teachers could lead others and mentor others and been elevated to have influence amongst their peers. “The money on offer by Julia Gillard could go to professional development for teachers rather than creating an election grab for popularity/vote bribing,” Sherrin believes.
